Not-for-Profit Organizations
|
Hiring is a challenge for all employers, but not-for-profit organizations typically face additional challenges: a small (or non-existent) human resources function and, more often than not, a very limited budget. Yet the responsibility for due diligence in the employment process is just as much a responsibility for not-for-profit organizations as it is to for-profit companies, and in fact often extends further: most non-for-profit organizations are also involved with the selection of volunteers.
Not-for-profit organizations know that their volunteers bring with them special screening requirements if the organization is involved with children, the elderly, and/or MRDD populations. With volunteers come additional screening requirements that are at the very least strongly recommended, and in some cases are required by statute. (See the Volunteers section of this web site for additional information concerning volunteers’ special screening requirements.)
RefCheckSM has long been committed to supporting community organizations. One
of the most important ways we do so is by subsidizing the services we provide to not-for-profit organizations, resulting in lower fees. Because of these subsidized fees not-for-profits no longer have to hire employees or select volunteers without the benefit of having screened each candidate carefully.

information, or want to get started screening your applicants or volunteers.
