Criminal Records Search

Ensure a safe workplace by conducting a comprehensive criminal history search of several broad-based databases of information from all counties and states that make criminal conviction records available. These extensive searches include data on foreign nationals sanctioned by the U.S. government and Sex Offender Registries.

The “National” Database Criminal Records Search

This search casts a broad net, and serves as a critical tool in finding records in locations other than where an individual has lived and worked—perhaps even records of a crime committed while on vacation. Utilizing one of the largest private sector criminal history databases in the country—comprising data from multiple criminal records sources in nearly fifty states and the District of Columbia—this database includes records from criminal courts, state criminal record repositories, probation, prison parole and release files, Sex Offender Registries, Departments of Corrections, other government agencies, as well as proprietary data. Information is also provided on foreign nationals (individuals and entities) listed by the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) against whom the U.S. government has sanctions, and with whom no U.S. person may have dealings. Results include felony and misdemeanor convictions.

It is important to note that, pursuant to the requirements of the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), “hits” resulting from this search must be confirmed through a physical search of county records prior to being used for selection purposes.

The County Criminal Records Search

This physical search reveals convictions for felonies and misdemeanors, and is the only Fair Credit Reporting Act-compliant search. An individual’s county of residence (including former counties of residence, as revealed by the Address History Search) and county of work are typically checked to provide as thorough a criminal record history as is presently available.
